 On the collection of a double tax on Jews, who are enrolling into the merchant class and the
bourgeoisie.
 As we are allowing the Jews to carry on their merchant and other commercial deals in the
provinces of: Minsk, Izyaslav, Bratslav, Polotsk, Mogilev, Kiev, Chernigov, Novgorod-Seversky,
Ekaterinoslav, and in the Taurida Oblast’ [Region], when [while they are] enrolled in the cities’
merchants and the bourgeoise, We give an order – from the aforementioned Jews who wish to avail
themselves of such allowance - from the first day of the next month of July, to collect the established
taxes twice against those laid upon the merchants and bourgeoise of the Christian faith of different
denominations;

Jews who wish not to stay – to those should be given the freedom - on the basis of the provisions
[decrees] of the cities and after the payment of the three-years double tax - to extricate themselves from
